David Sommers

With a rare perspective shaped by 20 years on both sides of the microphone, David Sommers knows how disorienting a crisis can be and how to navigate it successfully. His leadership experience includes serving as chief communications and engagement executive for Los Angeles County, the nation’s largest municipal government; head of internal and executive communications for Molina Healthcare, a Fortune 150 company; publisher and CEO of regional news outlets; speechwriter and communications director for elected officials; and as a broadcast news producer.

  • David Sommers is a strategic advisor and communications executive with more than 20 years of cross-sector leadership spanning public, private, and nonprofit sectors. He is the co-founder of Postscript Strategy, where he partners with organizations to solve complex challenges through operational insight, stakeholder alignment, and clear, trusted messaging.

    David previously served as the chief communications executive for Los Angeles County, the largest municipal government in the country. There, he led media relations, crisis communications, and public engagement strategies for a $40+ billion enterprise with more than 100,000 employees. His work earned national recognition for building trust across diverse audiences, especially during moments of emergency and rapid change.

    In the private sector, David held executive roles at Molina Healthcare, a Fortune 150, publicly traded company, and Pacific6 Enterprises, a multinational private equity fund. At Molina, he led workforce communications, engagement, and executive messaging across 42 states, supporting more than 25,000 employees. At Pacific6, he co-directed the parent company’s operations alongside Brandon Dowling, overseeing personnel and business functions across a portfolio that included healthcare, housing, aquaculture, and journalism.

    He has also served as a local news executive, holding publisher, chief executive officer, and chief revenue officer roles for media companies in Southern California and Oregon, leading business transformation efforts, strategic fundraising, and digital platform growth.

    Today, David brings that same systems-level leadership to client challenges at Postscript Strategy. He specializes in helping mission-driven teams communicate with authority, engage stakeholders effectively, and respond to high-stakes moments with confidence.

Brandon Dowling

Brandon Dowling is a seasoned leader adept at navigating high-stakes environments across the public and private sectors. He excels at building the consensus and operational backbone needed to execute on complex missions, from overseeing a $150M+ private equity partnership as chief of staff, to serving as a communications officer for the City of Long Beach City Manager’s Office, and leading corporate communications for Molina Healthcare. He has also directed significant digital transformation projects for Los Angeles County, serving in both the District Attorney's Office and the Chief Executive Office.

  • Brandon Dowling, a strategic operator and communications leader, brings a decade-plus of experience leading diverse teams through complex public and private sector challenges. As co-founder of PostScript Strategy, he crafts innovative engagement strategies and impactful stakeholder campaigns that align organizational messaging, operations, and strategy for precise results.

    His public service career consistently shaped impactful solutions. During his tenure at the Los Angeles County Chief Executive Office, he boosted digital engagement through award-winning work around public digital access. At the City of Long Beach, he spearheaded its first strategic communications plan in a decade, using extensive community engagement to inform policy on key priorities.

    His private sector experience began during his time at Molina Healthcare, a major publicly traded healthcare firm, where he led national internal communications, employee experience, and advocacy, boosting engagement and corporate influence during a key C-Suite transition. At private equity startup Pacific6 Enterprises, he built its first communications department and was promoted to Chief of Staff, where he co-managed operations and strategy, directed key programs, and led diverse functions and teams across a portfolio spanning real estate, healthcare, and journalism.

    At PostScript Strategy, Brandon leverages this deep expertise to help clients build vital partnerships, communicate purposefully, operate with clarity, and lead through change.

    Brandon holds an MPP from UCLA and a BA in Political Science & Psychology from CSU Channel Islands.
